Sacrifice and a New Environmental Politics
Throughout this book, “sacrifice” has been discussed and understood in different and competing ways. Some see it as a negative postulation and others as a positive and effective idea, but it has mostly been forced and hidden. The varied opinions about it make sacrifice an important notion for those who pursue political change for environmental sustainability. Sacrifice is yet to be realized as a potent tool to avert climate change and secure environmental sustainability, although it has been raised rhetorically. There are five challenges to the topic, which are discussed further in this concluding portion of the book.
