This chapter discusses approaches including biomarkers, distributed systems with and without function-specific nodes, and localized nodes that would help in presenting the relationship between mind and brain. Applications of biomarkers and localized nodes are explored along with arguments which propose that brain function is neither function specific nor localized. The chapter explores contemporary theories related to cognitive neuroscience, which are based on brain imaging data, and presents a modified version combining localization and functional specialization theory wherein questions on brain-image and its correlation with cognitive processes are explored. It explores the importance of developing statistical methods that would help in understanding cognitive neuroscience following the uncertain relationship between brain images and cognitive processes based on the empirical data.
