This chapter discusses the experiences of performing with motion capture and motion-tracking technologies, and examines how the body in performance acts as a catalyst for understanding human–digital interactions. It further focuses on the notions of intersubjectivity and otherness through motion capture performance and emphasizes that the development of human ethics is possible through human–computer interaction. The technologies that are discussed, which include older motion capture (mocap) systems and more sophisticated and expensive configurations, offer challenges for understanding human bodies and social embeddedness. The chapter further emphasizes that it is difficult to understand the growing relationship between bodies and computers through existing metaphors, structures, and conventional knowledge.
