The Thalamic Gateway: How the Meditative Training of Attention Evolves toward Selfless Transformations of Consciousness
This chapter demonstrates how meditative training of attentiveness can effect a shift toward selfless manifestations of consciousness for the practitioners, and develops an assumption that the meditative training of attention results in a combination of events occurring in the thalamus region of the brain. These thalamic changes result in such a physiological transition that the emphasis on self is erased from the consciousness. The main assumption and its various components represent the study for an academic neurologist. Meditative training of attention has gained popularity as it helps an individual to learn to relax, become calm, and explore their inner intuitive mechanisms through repeated practice. These qualities and mechanisms help the individual to remain alert to any change occurring anywhere in the surrounding environment without making much effort.
