This chapter begins with a brief introduction of interaction, and describes the concepts of several interfaces that are helpful to understand the relationship between image and interactivity. The authors unfold the basics of interactive cultural interfaces in a wide variety of areas. The exploration of this concept in social psychology, cybernetics, human–computer interaction, design, and interactive art covers a major section of the chapter. Furthermore, the discussion continues with tangible, ubiquitous interaction, wearable interfaces, and other technological advancements. The chapter also focuses on intelligent architecture, media facades, smart homes, and the evolution of mobile computing.
