Armed with the concepts of the previous chapter, Chapter 5 turns to ontogenesis without a priori objects, developing the notions of distributed matter, substrate, plenum, and tissue. This chapter considers some philosophies of material process- those of Poincaré, Whitehead, Stengers-and proposes an approach to process-namely dynamics-consonant with such process philosophies, informed by the more precisely nuanced articulations afforded by concepts from topological dynamics and other poietic arts, as well as by the technologies of performance in responsive media.

Keywords:   process philosophy, morphogenesis, ontogenesis
