This chapter assesses how well the book’s goal—to show that key elements of deductive argumentation can be formalized in logic—has been achieved. It considers some of what is still missing in the endeavor to understand the principles underlying argumentation as a cognitive process and in order to make argumentation a useful part of artificial intelligence technology.
