This chapter discusses the requirement that all WTO members notify the WTO of trade-related investment measures such as industrial policy measures that aim to promote investment in domestic production. The TRIMs Agreement was one of the agreements successfully concluded in the Uruguay round of negotiations. The chapter examines specific instances of TRIMs such as local content as well as the indicative list of measures contained in the TRIMs Agreement. This chapter also sees a discussion of the wider ‘trade and investment’ issue.
