This chapter focuses on collaborative learning in augmented reality (AR) games. It identifies the following necessary components of collaborative learning: positive interdependence, promotive interaction, individual accountability, interpersonal and small-group skills, and group processing. Many massively multiplayer online role-playing games (MMORPGs) match well with this set of criteria. Collaborative learning in following games are examined: Environmental Detectives, Charles River City, Mystery @ the Museum, and Outbreak @ the Institute.
