This chapter describes how the National Virtual Observatory (NVO) project promotes collaborative scientific research studies. The NVO has been funded by the National Science Foundation to establish the required cyberinfrastructure for supporting the creation of several astronomical data sets. These astronomical data sets allow researchers to search multiple data sets and develop simulations that incorporate different kinds of astronomical data. The NVO expects to help in combining multiple point-observation telescopes and sky surveys into a unified data set by developing the necessary tools and standardized data models. The chapter finds that the unified data set functions as an efficient broadband worldwide telescope to fulfill the objectives of the NVO.
