This chapter is concerned with replication in systems chemistry and extends the replicator principle to neuronal evolution, brains, and language. It specifically outlines the relevance of evolutionary thinking in certain areas of chemistry and presents a lateral extension to neuroscience, reviewing a truly evolutionary approach to brain function in the higher vertebrates. Some relevant aspects of language are considered. The chapter suggests that unlimited heredity arose in the form of symbolic neuronal replicators inhabiting the brains of humans, and that this was a prerequisite for language. It shows that the replication mechanisms are proposed to exist at the neuronal level and not at the level of thought.
