Types of librarian preparation are discussed (librarian by education, by title, and by spirit) as well as an overview of the Salzburg Curriculum is presented. Competencies for librarians are discussed: transformative social engagement; technology; asset management; cultural skills; knowledge, learning, and innovation; and management for participation.
